After earning a degree in Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics from the University of Palermo in 2004, Dr Lombardo specialized in orthodontics at the University of Ferrara in 2007.
He continued there as a research fellow until 2011 and has been an adjunct professor since 2010. Since 2012, he has been a researcher at Ferrara University and a member of the European Board of Orthodontics.
He is the Chairman of the School of Dentistry and the Chairman of the postgraduate school of Orthodontics of Ferrara University. He is the author of journal publications and a speaker at national and international conferences. He is an associate editor of Progress in Orthodontics. He served as president of the Italian Association of
Specialist in Orthodontics and president of the Italian Association of Lingual Orthodontics (2013-2016). He is a member of SIDO, AIDOR, and WSLO. He was the president 2018 of the Italian Academy of Orthodontics. He is an Active Member of the Angle Society of Europe.
