Dr. Ron RONCONE

After receiving his undergraduate degree from Marquette University, Dr. Roncone pursued graduate study in physiology and neuroanatomy at the Medical College of Wisconsin (Marquette School of Medicine) while simultaneously earning his dental degree from the same university. He received two Post-Graduate Certificates in Orthodontics, one from Harvard School of Dental Medicine and one from Forsyth Dental Center. He was a Teaching Fellow at Harvard School of Dental Medicine followed by an assistant professorship at the University of Maryland Department ofOrthodontics and visiting lecturer at UCLA and USC.
Dr. Roncone has been in practice since 1971 in San Diego County (Vista, California) specializing in adult treatment, TMD and comprehensive orthopedics. He is a respected and frequent lecturer, having taught more than a thousand seminars around the globe. Dr. Roncone is the founder of The Roncone PhysioDynamicSystem (PDS) and President & CEO of Roncone Orthodontics International.

Dr. Roncone has successfully treated more than 43,000 orthodontic cases and within that number over 8000 cases related to TMJ dysfunction.

ABSTRACT

Great studies have been made in orthodontics with the introduction of many technologies. Yet, there are basic principles which, in my opinion, have been overlooked or neglected. This comprehensive three-day course presents a complete clinical and practical guide to TMJ treatment for attentive orthodontists paying attention to details. The course covers the following areas:

DAY 3 - TMJ Disorders, diagnosis and practical treatments

• The prevalence of TM Joint disorders and why they need to be diagnosed and treated. (You are already treating patients with TM Dysfunction even if you are not aware of it.)
• The diagnosis of TMJ/MPD dysfunction.
• The supremacy of muscles.
• The practical treatment(s) of this problem.
• The practical use of splints and physical therapy modalities.
• What to do post splint therapy.
